 在德國一座中世紀大學城的植物園中，一棵古老的銀杏樹靜靜矗立，見證著三個時代中人與自然之間的深層聯結。1908年，大學首位女性學生透過攝影鏡頭，在植物的微觀結構中發現宇宙的神圣秩序；1972年，一位沉默的青年在觀察天竺葵的過程中，悄然改變了對世界的感知；2020年，一位來自香港的神經科學家在研究嬰兒意識的同時，與這棵樹展開一場意想不到的實驗。

薌劇龍套演員孫煌，堅持著白己的舞臺夢想，希望終有一天戲曲還能重回老百姓的視野。但戲臺拆除、劇團解散徹底打碎了他的夢想，沒想到最后一次的演出，別出心裁戲曲和流行歌曲的混搭再次點燃觀眾們的心，戲臺也因為這次反響良好的演出被保留下來。
